Elite Manufacturing was growing rapidly and but found that they needed a way to effectively track production flow and inventory movement in MAS 90 and stop using manual procedures which were costing them time and money. Elite faced these challenges:
- Quick and Accurate Entry of Employee Time, from “Clock-In” to “Clock-Out”
- Collect Data through each step of a Work Order
- Real-time material issues entered directly from the shop-floor
- Ability to track progress of Work Orders as steps are completed without waiting for updates
- Ability to track actual costs for each Work Order
- Capture Labor Detail by shift & department
- Identify labor efficiency by Work Order
- Needed rapid turnaround of assemblies which limits the amount of time for each data entry
- Needed Data Collection server software to provide real-time validation of shop-floor transactions
Using MAS 90 since 1994, Elite had grown to 150 employees, 11 departments and 800 to 1000 transactions a day. The manual procedures for tracking inventory and production became a bottleneck and prevented them from being able to deliver their products to clients in a timely manner. VP of Operations, Vince Amaro, asked “How do we get the information from the Shop Floor collected and entered into the system?”
Elite turned to their MAS 90 Reseller/Developer, Innovative Consulting Services to solve this problem. ICS had already added Work Order Processing and MRP to the Bill of Materials module, but to solve Vince’s question, Elite deployed ICS’s Shop Floor Data Collection System.
Elite saw an immediate impact from day one. Departments that were chronically out of parts began to flow regularly. No more struggle to find “missing” parts, imbalances in staffing were quickly identified and personnel were able to shifted from over-manned area to under-staffed areas.
Even management reports were streamlined, so that one planner could perform the entire planning cycle in about two hours. Management can review and update Labor Transactions, Work Orders, MRP for the entire plant in one typical planning cycle.
